vegan chocolate mousse (two ways!)

There is really nothing like a proper creamy dark chocolate mousse. I’m not opposed to the real thing on occasion, it’s rich and amazing. But I am constantly attempting to concoct the creamiest, darkest, most divine alternative-mousse (made without cream) possible. Every time it’s a vegan concoction and I would consider eating it for breakfast. Seriously.

The great thing is that these could easily be a chocolate cake icing or with a crust be a chocolate tart. They are a perfect texture for spreading or layering when they are cold. So do make sure you chill it before eating or icing! Try putting fruit on top too. Here are two versions of chocolate mousse.

mousse one:

  • 1/3 c. hemp hearts
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 T chia
  • 1/2 c melted unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 c almond milk
  • 2 T cacao powder
  • 1/4 c maple syrup
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla bean

Melt chocolate and blend all ingredients. Pour in glass container and chill before eating.

mousse two:

  • 2/3 c unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 1/4 c coconut milk
  • 3 T maple syrup
  • banana (optional)

Melt chocolate and blend all ingredients. Pour in glass container and chill before eating.
